EXPEDITIONS
Twenty Expeditions. Every Continent. Thirty Years
OF SHOWING UP
Planning a Solar Wind Sherpas expedition means solving problems that don't exist yet. Eclipse paths are fixed by celestial mechanics, but weather, logistics, and field conditions are not. The team operates in deserts, at altitude, and in remote locations—sometimes making critical decisions the night before totality.
One in three eclipses is lost to clouds. The team goes anyway.
That record of persistence has produced one of the most comprehensive observational datasets of the solar corona available through ground-based science, and a depth of field experience that cannot be built any other way.
