Total solar eclipses follow their own schedule—and Solar Wind Sherpas has followed them for thirty years, to six continents, through deserts, Arctic tundra, and Antarctic ice. The science that results is unique, irreplaceable, and entirely dependent on the capacity to show up equipped and ready, wherever totality falls next.
What requires sustained support is everything between expeditions: data analysis, laboratory work, instrumentation development, and the scientific personnel that transform raw eclipse observations into published research and lasting contributions to solar physics.
WHAT
YOUR SUPPORT FUNDS
Expeditions
Months of planning and logistical investment—travel, field equipment, instrumentation transport, and operations across multiple observation sites in some of the most remote locations on Earth.
Data Analysis & Research
Eclipse data takes years to fully analyze. Support funds the scientific personnel, laboratory infrastructure, and computational resources that turn observations into peer-reviewed research.
Instrumentation
Solar Wind Sherpas designs and builds its own instruments—spectrometers, filter systems, and imaging arrays developed specifically for eclipse field conditions. Supporting development directly improves the quality of data captured at future expeditions.
Early Career Scientists
Each expedition includes graduate students and early-career researchers. Support funds their travel, training, and direct exposure to expedition-based solar science.
Documentation & Media
Professional photography, video, and editorial content bring the work to scientific, institutional, and public audiences.
